You store surplus solar
Your battery fills up during the day with energy your panels make but your home does not use right away.
The grid taps your battery at peak
At high-demand times, your VPP operator draws a small portion of your stored energy to help stabilise the grid.

Each draw is logged and you receive bill credits or payments, depending on the program you are enrolled in.

The federal battery rebate, explained
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program gives an indicative discount of around 30 percent off the upfront cost of an eligible battery, applied at the point of sale through STCs. It works with new or existing solar and counts the first 50 kWh of usable capacity.
Your battery needs to be VPP-capable to qualify, and the exact figure depends on your system size. We confirm what you actually qualify for during your free quote.
